I’m working on some handy tips right now.
Why don’t you get to know me a little better.
JODI’S VOLUNTEER WORK
Craigieburn Park is a $50m development in the centre of Craigieburn. It is now the home of Sprint Athletics Centre, Livvi’s Place, the Craigieburn War Memorial and Splash Aqua Park & Leisure Centre. In 2014 I was appointed as a community representative on the advisory panel. The role of the committee has been to represent the communities views in relation to the design, construction & fit-out of the park in the context of the budget, timing & professional advice available.
In 2013 I was appointed to the Sustainability Taskforce by Hume City Council. The panel is comprised of members of Council, staff representing Hume’s Sustainable Environment department and members of the community who represent: the rural sector, business & industry, environment groups & education. The Taskforce provides a mechanism for the Hume community to have direct input into the implementation of Council’s environmental framework & activities.
FOMCG is a landcare group that looks after Malcolm Creek and the surrounding grasslands in Craigieburn. Malcolm Creek is just one of three beautiful creeks that run through the town. FOMCG co-ordinate planting days, flora and fauna surveys, and other activities that are designed to get locals reconnected to nature. I’m a long-standing committee member. I run our bird surveys, waterbug census, frog census, and I also promote the groups activities via various social media platforms.
The Lemon Tree Project is a community-led project that aims to help communities to create a beautiful space in every street where neighbours can congregate and share. I co-founded this project in 2012 with a group of like-minded locals. We’ve been fortunate to have kick-started over 1000 sites around Australia over the past 5 years. I am the current Chair of the organisation. My additional roles include project management and the facilitation of our workshops.
Merri Creek is one of Melbourne’s most significant waterways, flowing for 70km between Wallan Wallan and the Yarra River at Fairfield. I assist MCMC staff and other volunteers to eradicate weeds and revegetate the northern most sections of the creek at Galgi Ngarrk (Craigieburn Grasslands), Bababi Marning (Cooper Street Grasslands) and Galada Tambore in Campbellfield. I lead bird surveys, waterbug surveys, frog census & wildflower walks
Hume’s Environmental Champions are a collaborative group of environmentally conscious residents who work hard to improve the sustainability of our community. Previously, I facilitated the group, co-ordinating their meet-up events and promoting their work. These days I am more active in terms of helping Champs to manage their projects and connecting them to groups who are needy of their skills and expertise.
Environmentality is a volunteer run radio program, which airs 9am-10am every Friday on North-West FM. For over 3 years I was the shows resident garden expert. I helped to produce and co-host a monthly gardening show. The show is still running so be sure to tune in live or catch their podcasts here.
Hub GSD is an entrepreneurial coaching group that I’ve been facilitating since 2015. I run 4 x 10 week programs each year. Participants range from founders of start-ups to owners of micro-businesses and leaders of community groups who need help getting their projects off the ground.
The C4C, a.k.a. Committee For Craigieburn was a project that aimed to kick-start inovative community projects. The governing body, which I was appointed to, oversaw it’s projects and provide mentorship. My role was to assist with partnerships and handle the committee’s promotions.
